A Festive Maypole Quilt

Updated: Jan 30, 2022

I got my longarm machine during the holiday season and knew I wanted to break it in with a beautiful Christmas quilt. I've been a big fan of Suzy Quilts' modern designs for years, and had actually done a Maypole pillow that sits on my couch. When she put Christmas kits on her site, I snagged one for the Maypole pattern immediately! The kit was a mix of Andover Solids and, my favorite, Rifle Paper Co holiday prints.

Putting this quilt together also gave me the opportunity to shop for a holiday themed pantograph to double down on the theme. I chose A Merry 'Lil Christmas from Urban Elementz with paired it with a metallic gold thread and I'm just thrilled with the results!

The Maypole Quilt Pattern by Suzy Quilts comes together really quickly and is a great pattern if you need to turn around a baby quilt in a weekend, or decide to make a holiday throw on a whim for the family couch.

I normally prefer my thread to blend into the quilt, but the holidays are always a time to add some glitz and glamour. The Rifle Paper Co fabrics I chose have gold in the prints, and the thread carries this holiday spirit across the quieter areas of the quilt.

The backing fabric I chose is from Figo Fabrics' holiday line, and I take any opportunity I can to work the Swiss cross into the decor in my home. I bound the quilt using the big stitch binding method from Patchwork And Poodles for the perfect finish.

I am elated with how this quilt turned out, and had fun dragging it around my neighborhood to get some fun shots. If you have a special quilt that needs a loving touch, head to my work request form to get started! I'd love to work with you for your next project.
